I’ve just dispatched the first few batches of orders for the turret mic which make use of the new v2 case. All orders going forward will use this.
There wasn't anything wrong with the original case but as you may well have noticed, I do like to make "constant improvements" (read as: hack around)!
OK, I admit - the visible grooves at the back bothered me a little... 🙂
So, what has changed?
The biggest change is that this case is, as close as I can make it - a single continuous print. This means its certainly less fiddly to assemble but should also be a bit tougher. It is also a universal fit (the v1 case had a separate back for the two different types of microphone).
The second part is the new 'bumpy' texture. Anyone who does any 3D printing knows that they're constantly fine tuning filaments and printer so that they get the smoothest print with few/any visible lines.
I'd had a couple of comments from people asking if it could be less smooth for a better grip. This, to a 3D print geek goes against all this hard tuning work! I'm pretty pleased with how it has come out though.
What hasn't changed?
Everything else. The PCB boards I use are the same (I've just received another batch), the mics on offer are the same and the cable is the same.
