Updates
June 2025 - I've started shipping the v2 case. The internal components are the same, this is just a bit more rigid, better looking and features a "bumpy" texture for better grip.
Background
As you'll have seen I've been selling the ever popular K6ARK mini mic in kit form. These have proved very popular.
It was always my intention to offer assembled versions of these but I've never been able to find the time to sit down and make a decent sized batch up.
The Turret*
*I can't help but think this has a passing resemblance to the Turrets in the Steam game, Portal.
Built on the shoulders of Adam, K6ARK's mic I've designed an assembled microphone which uses essentially the same components but without the fiddly wiring. At its heart is a PCB which takes care of all of that.
Presented in a PETG cylindrical case (47mm tall, 10mm in diameter) and weighing in at under 10g this is a great option for those who want an off the shelf backup or light mic for SOTA/POTA.
There are two choices of electret condenser elements.
- The "standard" element which has and still is used with the K6ARK mics. This is a slightly cheaper option.
- The -24db element has been recommended by Hans at QRP Labs and for the sBitx/zBitx. This element isn't specific to these radios. It has a higher gain (-24 dB) and delivers improved audio clarity.
Also included is a 0.5m or 1m braided TRS 3.5 mm cable.
